The seaside
The coast is just 35 minutes away from the Villa ample
seashore of fine sand, elegant buildings,
restaurants, shops...
The part of Italy's western coast that runs from La Spezia
to Leghorn, and which is known as Versilia, is of unique
natural beauty and has always captured the hearts of its
visitors. Earth and sky seem welded with singular
gracefulness and fascination. The area includes seven
communes - Pietrasanta, Stazzema, Seravezza, Forte di
Marmi, Camaiore, Viareggio and Massarosa -each with its
own territorial character. The coastline has a beach with
fine soft sand and includes over 400 bathing stations and
more than 600 lodgings.
The Apuan Alps are spectacularly close and influence the
whole climate of the coastal area. The air is cool and
clean even in summer: a sea bath can be immediately
followed by an excursion to one of the stunning mountain
areas where there is still the pastoral and agricultural
atmosphere of the ancient settlements situated there.
Besides the beauty of the countryside, Versilia offers a
variety of cultural events of international standing
throughout the territory. Prominent among these are the
well- known Versilia Festival at Marina di Pietrasanta and
the Puccini festival at Torre del Lago, both held in
summer. In winter, too, there are large-scale events, with
the magnificent Viareggio Carnival holding pride of place.
