Montecatini Terme
Not only the villa "La Nievolina" is a starting
place to visit some of the world most known historic and artist
areas but it gives you the opportunity of a complete thermal
stay in Montecatini Terme, for the properties of its waters
famous all over the world and for the ambient components
giving to the treatment an essential atmosphere for a
particularly beneficient results.
The benefits of the springs (particularly on the liver) have
been known about since the 1300s. The springs were owned first
by the Medici and then by the House of Lorraine. In fact, it
was Leopold I who first began to exploit them in the second
half of the 18th century, setting in motion the development of
the current town. The urban design was based on tree-lined
axes linking the baths, with the main piazza lying at the
crossroads. It became well-known in Europe at the beginning of
the 20th century, and much of the building work took place in
this period; private houses, large hotels, theatres, and
casinos sprang up, some in
an Art Nouveau style and others in an extremely eclectic
one. The preservation of this atmosphere is perhaps also
due to the cultural initiatives and the high society aura that
careful local government management has managed to generate.
At just thirty minutes
distance from Florence and the tyrrhenian sea, connected to
the Firenze - Mare (highway A11), is located at the centre of
a wonderful valley of olive trees and flowers, a peaceful
oasis in one of the most charming tuscan landscapes.
